NYTT 201 | Accessible Asana: Foundations, methods, and practice

Instructor: Elizabeth Emberly

This training focuses on establishing an understanding of modern and classical postural yoga and its effects on alignment, breath and overall health. This education will help develop your personal asana practice while offering you essential tools to begin to share yoga with others. Naada Yoga embraces the philosophy that yoga can be accessible to all students. In this light an emphasis will be placed on exploring a variety of modifications in order to nurture both accessibility and inclusion within a group class environment.

NYTT 202 | Functionally Anatomy: Biomechanics of Movement

Instructor: Joanna Abbatt

This course will provide an introduction to the basic anatomical and physiological principles essential for yoga training and teaching to deepen our understanding of the harmonious ways the body functions anatomically. We will also explore the body’s “energetic” anatomy from a yoga perspective and how the subtle body helps us better understand physical alignment in all areas of our lives.

NYTT 203 | Progressive Asana: Beyond the basics

Instructor: Elizabeth Emberly

This course is intended to take individuals deeper into an exploration of the principles of alignment, inner and outer form of the poses, and how to instruct clearly from the principles of foundation, breath and movement. We will explore variations on the key poses from the NYTT Accessible Asana course, as well as introduce modifications for certain conditions. How to introduce more advanced principles of alignment to take students safely into more demanding poses will also be covered.

NYTT 204 | Yoga Philosophy: History and Culture

Instructor: Mark Singleton

This course will provide an overview of yoga from a historical and philosophical perspective to situate its evolution and application in our culture and our times. The philosophical foundation of yoga and the key teachings of the tradition (including traditional texts: Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads) will be covered.

NYTT 301 | Restorative Yoga: The art of stillness and deep relaxation

Instructor: Elizabeth Emberly

This course will examine the basic principles of a restorative yoga practice and how to use a variety of props to create positions of ease and comfort that help facilitate relaxation and health. As we navigate an extremely stressful world we are without a doubt dealing with illness on a myriad of different levels. In this course you will learn about the adaptability of restorative yoga, no matter what the condition, and how to best support yourself and your students to find maximum ease in each of the postures. We will also examine the numerous effects of a variety of postures, including inversions, in more detail and how to create a safe and supportive practice environment for students in these poses.

NYTT 302 | Pranayama: The yoga of breath

Instructor: Richard Rosen

Beginning a pranayama practice is an extremely daunting task. This course is a step by step guide and aims at supporting and educating you to help get you started. Fundamental principles of pranayama will be explored and practiced, deepening your understanding of how the movement of breath affects both the body and mind. The anatomy of breathing, philosophy of breathing, and specific pranayama techniques will be discussed, including instruction on ujjayi, violma, and bhramari breaths that form the foundation of traditional pranayama techniques. Specific techniques of breath, body awareness and how to set up for pranayama practice will also be covered, as well as contraindications and cautions in the practice.

Sequencing: Methodologies for building creative, safe and purposeful yoga classes

Instructor: Kreg Weiss

Like people, yoga sequences come in a variety of shapes and sizes and because of this makes sequencing yoga classes an art form. This course is intended for new or experienced yoga teachers looking to enhance their sequencing skills and inject creativity, education and inspiration into their classes. This module will take you through a variety of experiential and anatomically based yoga sequences in order to deepen your understanding of yoga asana. These sequencing methods will be examined, dissected and emitted back to you so that you may offer clear guided instruction through safe and effective practice sequences.

NYTT 304 |

Empowerment through interoception

Instructor: Donna Farhi

Most historic Yoga lineages and methods have relied on models for teaching that are hard wired to ensure the student’s dependence upon the teacher as the ultimate (and sometimes only) point of reference. This pedagogic model has persisted within contemporary Yoga styles with new yoga hybrids simply filtered through the same archaic lens. Encapsulated in the phrase “Simon Says”, teachers are trained to deliver authoritative instruction with students striving to obediently replicate a posture or practice. This makes for students who become passive recipients of information rather than active participants engaged in shared inquiry and adaptive learning. This externally referenced model for teaching can gradually erode people’s ability to access and trust their own perception, kinesthesia and interoception. Donna will explore the conscious steps teachers can make to create a context for students to become adept at investigating, deducting, adapting and evolving their yoga practice. We will learn about the conditions that foster people’s ability to perceive, process and integrate the signals from within their bodies. Not only can this approach yield exceptional results for students; crossing the bridge from Simon Says to Self-Sovereignty teaching can make teaching a satisfying lifelong career.

NYTT 305 | Yoga as Therapy

Instructor: Dr.Baxter Bell

Yoga therapy presents a model for wellness that can be applied to chronic and acute conditions. This course introduces current yoga teachers to the advanced skills required to create holistic treatment plans for one-on-one sessions and special populations. Yoga therapists create individualized treatment plans to address common health issues and individual well-being, recognizing the interconnection of mind, body, emotions and spirit.

NYTT 306 | Naada Yoga: Sound of Yoga

Instructor: Ann Dyer

Yogis across the centuries have harnessed the power of sound to fuel their yoga practice. Traditionally chanting and deep listening held a central role in yogic practice in India. When yoga migrated to the west the physical practice of asana was emphasized and the place of nada anusandhana (yogic sound practice) faded into the background. In recent years, however, there has been a resurgence in yogic chant in studios across the country for its reputation as the simple, quick, easy yogic path. Discover the traditions of sound in yoga and learn how to integrate them into a modern yoga practice as both a student and teacher with one of North America’s leading teachers on the subject.

Naada Yoga has worked with the Yoga Alliance to secure a new pathway for you to graduate as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) online. Our 200hr program will allow you to complete your yoga teacher training online virtually at your pace from the comfort of your own home – and still qualify to teach worldwide with Yoga Alliance credentials.

  • Naada Yoga is an accredited training school recognized by Human Resources Development Canada and can provide tax receipts for all qualifying trainings
  • Your 200hr online training will contribute to advanced standing into our 300hr and 500hr Yoga Alliance programs.
