Yoga Alliance Certified Program

The 200hr Foundation training program is designed to make the deeper aspects of yoga accessible to people of all ages and physical abilities. Whether you plan to teach yoga or develop your own personal practice, this program provides the knowledge and tools necessary to impart this living practice onto others, safely, skillfully and with integrity. Students who complete the 200hr program will have gained a tremendous insight into the world of yoga and establish an internationally recognized accreditation as well as the foundation for a complete NYTT 500hr certification.

NYTT 201 | Accessible Asana: Foundations, methods, and practice

Instructor: Xavier Therrien

This training focuses on establishing an understanding of modern and classical postural yoga and its effects on alignment, breath and overall health. This education will help develop your personal asana practice while offering you essential tools to begin to share yoga with others. Naada Yoga embraces the philosophy that yoga can be accessible to all students. In this light an emphasis will be placed on exploring a variety of modifications in order to nurture both accessibility and inclusion within a group class environment.

NYTT 202 | Functional Anatomy: Biomechanics of Movement

Instructor: Joanna Abbatt

This course will provide an introduction to the basic anatomical and physiological principles essential for yoga training and teaching to deepen our understanding of the harmonious ways the body functions anatomically. We will also explore the body’s “energetic” anatomy from a yoga perspective and how the subtle body helps us better understand physical alignment in all areas of our lives.

NYTT 203 | Progressive Asana: Beyond the basics

Instructor: Xavier Therrien

This course is intended to take individuals deeper into an exploration of the principles of alignment, inner and outer form of the poses, and how to instruct clearly from the principles of foundation, breath and movement. We will explore variations on the key poses from the NYTT Accessible Asana course, as well as introduce modifications for certain conditions. How to introduce more advanced principles of alignment to take students safely into more demanding poses will also be covered.

NYTT 204 | Yoga Philosophy: History and Culture

Instructor: Mark Singleton and Pascale Wettstein

This course will provide an overview of yoga from a historical and philosophical perspective to situate its evolution and application in our culture and our times. The philosophical foundation of yoga and the key teachings of the tradition (including traditional texts: Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads) will be covered.

One on One Mentorship

Every student is assigned a mentor who will provide support throughout the program.  The mentorship program is the perfect bridge from training to teaching. By engaging in the process of mentorship, you are witnessed, heard, acknowledged, coached, empowered, and above all, you have an experienced companion who walks with you on the path toward becoming a professional and individualized yoga teacher as well as guiding you deeper into your own

  • Feedback on your practice classes
  • Participate in your mentors classes and have talk back discussions

Practical examinations

  • Conduct your practice class in studio or submit a video for review and feedback from your mentor

Accreditation

Naada Yoga has worked with Yoga Alliance to secure a pathway for you to graduate as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200). In addition to being a Yoga Alliance Registered School, Naada Yoga is an accredited training school recognized by Human Resources Development Canada. We offer the highest level of education surpassing the basic requirements of the Canadian and American yoga alliances and are always up to date with any new regulations or alliances that will help you put your best foot forward as a graduate.
