Dear valued members of the Naada Yoga Community,
We are currently writing this message to you from our empty studio that was built piece by piece over 11 years through the extraordinary support of our students, teachers, volunteers, and staff. Everywhere we look is a reminder that there is a genuine Naada Yoga community that cares deeply about this space and who is forever connected through their collective experiences here. We would like to sincerely thank you for helping build this vibrant and inspiring community.
In this time of indefinite closure the honest and factual reality of our situation is that we are faced with our constant expenditures: high rent and utilities. At the moment neither our landlord nor our government are providing financial relief. Given this reality Naada Yoga will most certainly have to close permanently if we do not take collective action.
We can and with this community’s help WILL weather this fragile period but it will truly take engagement from ALL of us who make up Naada Yoga, be it students, teachers, volunteers, and staff alike, both past and present. We know if we pull together this may be just another reminder of how powerful community can be.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Our community is not defined by our studio walls and now neither are our classes.
We have worked hard to establish a LIVEstream schedule with all of our studio teachers (and even some past Naada Yoga teachers) to offer you a complete schedule of nourishing classes as we did before the world was forced to isolate. Taking a LIVEstream class is like taking a class at the studio with your favourite teacher. You can see your teacher and they can see you. Your teacher will make adjustments and you can connect with your fellow students. This is not a yoga video, this is LIVE. With LIVEstreaming we can continue to call on our yoga practice and each other to help us weather this crisis together — and perhaps we can emerge from this difficult time with an even deeper connection to both our yoga and our community.
You can help Naada Yoga survive by reactivating your auto renew membership, purchasing class cards, gift certificates, or fixed memberships. These options will grant you full access to our LIVEstream classes as they did with our studio classes. It is with your continued financial support that Naada Yoga will be able to exist after this period of isolation. The positive of this new platform is that we are more connected than ever. If you have moved away from Montreal or are curious how such a community came to be, our doors are now open to the world.
For members only: In addition to your unlimited access to our LIVEstream class schedule we will also be granting you access to Naada Yoga Online, a growing collection of yoga videos we have been filming in our studio for you to practice with at your leisure between your LIVEstreamed classes.
A GESTURE OF THANKS TO YOU
As a token of our appreciation to our members for supporting Naada Yoga during this time of uncertainty we would like to loan our local active members a complete set of props of 1 bolster, two blocks, 1 sand bag, and one strap for you to use in your home practice during our closure. Naada Yoga was thoughtfully and purposefully built to support and nurture a complete yoga practice for a diverse community. Every design choice has your health in mind. While we cannot share our facility with you during these unprecedented times we can provide you with our yoga props to support you while you practice at home with us. Once you have activated your membership please let us know if you need props at home by emailing the studio at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will arrange a pick up time with you at the studio (or delivered in the mile end if you are quarantined), and yes, each and every prop has been thoroughly disinfected.
GET STARTED NOW
We sincerely thank you for your support. We fully appreciate that everyone is experiencing difficulty during these unprecedented times and do not take your choice to support Naada Yoga lightly. As you are here for us we are here for you. Let us take this opportunity to reconfirm our connectivity and breathe collectively. All the best and much health to you all.
See you online,
From founders Elizabeth Emberly and Jason Sharp
