Free for members ($5 non-members)

Ever wonder where America gets most of its oil? If you thought it was Saudi Arabia or Iraq you are wrong. America’s biggest oil supplier has quickly become Canada’s oil sands. Located under Alberta’s pristine boreal forests, the process of oil sands extraction uses up to 4 barrels of fresh water to produce only one barrel of crude oil.

H2Oil follows a voyage of discovery, heartbreak and politicization in the stories of those attempting to defend water in Alberta against tar sands expansion. Unlikely alliances are built and lives are changed as they come up against the largest industrial project in human history.

Ultimately we ask what is more important, oil or water? And what will be our response?

With hope and courage H2Oil tells the story of one of the most significant, and destructive projects of our time. Click HERE to watch the trailer.

Backbending Workshop with Elizabeth Emberly

Dec 13 14h30 – 16h30 $20

Wondering about backbending and how to achieve the benefits without sacrificing alignment? Do you find backbends uncomfortable or scary? Have you always wanted to backbend but really just don’t know how?

Backbending can be a challenging and sometimes difficult practice to understand. However, through a steady and patient practice backbends become very powerful postures that yield many benefits. With winter creeping around the corner this practice can boost the immune system to help transition us into new seasons. This workshop will focus on using specific postures and their variations to provide and teach spinal stability, free the neck and shoulder areas and in turn open the heart center.

Introduction to Meditation with Sonia Osorio

Nov. 29 9:00-12:00

Wondering about meditation and the various approaches to this practice? Curious about how meditation relates to your yoga practice – or to your life? How do we practice when we feel distracted? How do we sustain a practice? What are we really committing to?

This introductory course, part of Naada’s Meditation Training Module*, is geared towards offering you guidelines and support for beginning a mediation practice (on your own and in a group), supporting that practice, and bringing it into your daily life. Through a combination of lecture, body-awareness exercises, and various approaches based in Tibetan Buddhism, we’ll explore meditation as a sitting, walking – and awakening – practice, so that we can better understand how this relates to all aspects of our lives.

Note: This workshop is an introduction to a 4-week in-depth training module (advanced registration required for the 4-week series).

Cost: $20

Upcoming in the New Year

*As part of our commitment to exploring the totality of yoga, Naada will be offering various teaching and training modules, including Meditation, Pranayama, Asana, Naada, and other approaches related to the physical, pranic and meditative aspects of yoga as a complete system for awakening to our true potential. Follow our monthly newsletter to keep informed on topics to be covered each month.
